Scope and Contents
This collection contains records produced by the Office of Alumni Engagement from the years 1889 to 2025. It is arranged into seven series. The first series contains materials produced by the Alumni Office during the course of its operations, such as departmental reports, memos, pamphlets, alumni surveys, and information about the alumni house, Harrison House. This series also includes a sub-series of alumni directories for the years 1911-2002. The second series consists of records related to fundraising efforts led by the Alumni Office, including information about the alumni fund and the Founder’s Society. Series three contains information about Alumni Office events, namely Alumni Weekend, Homecoming, and sponsored presidential travel. This series is arranged by event and then chronologically. Series four covers reunion records, such as class year reunions, and other organizational reunions such as the day student reunions and military reunions. This series also contains materials related to Reunion Weekend activities. The fifth series contains records related to the Sports Hall of Fame and Fellowship of Champions banquets. This series includes committee meeting minutes and programs and photographs from the Hall of Fame events. Series six contains photographs from Alumni Office events from the early 1980s to the mid-2000s. Photographs are also interfiled with other series when directly tied to the topic or event. The last series includes artifacts created by the Alumni Office. This series contains two t-shirts from the mid-1980s produced by the Alumni Office for events it oversaw.

Historical Note
The Office of Alumni Engagement was first established as an independent department at Western Maryland College in 1965. Prior to its inception, alumni relations were run through the Office of Public Relations (est. 1942) in conjunction with the Alumni Association (est. 1872). Philip Elwood Uhrig served as the first director of Alumni Affairs, which was renamed as the Office of Alumni Relations in 2002. In 2021, the office was again retitled to the Office of Alumni Engagement
