Scope and Contents

This collection contains the records of the Home Economics Department at Western Maryland College. The collection spans the years 1921-2002. It is arranged into two series: Home Economics Club Records and Nursery School Records, and sorted alphabetically then chronologically. The majority of the collection consists of Annual Department Records and Scrapbooks.

Biographical / Historical

Home Economics is the study of household management including cooking, cleaning, sewing, and domestic management. Home Economics was a popular course of study for the young women at Western Maryland College. It was offered as a course of study at Western Maryland College from 1921 to 1963. During its time on campus, the Home Economics Department also had a nursery school where students provided care to local children.
