Scope and Contents
This collection consists of issues of the Western Maryland College/McDaniel College student literary and art magazine, Contrast. The collection spans the years 1957-present. It is arranged into two series. The first contains preservation copies of the magazine and the second is the reference collection

Biographical or Historical Information
"Contrast" originated in 1957 by a group of students who sought an outlet for their creative activity. It includes both literary and art work by students and faculty.
The magazine was published one or more times each academic year until 1993. After 1993 "Contrast" was not issued for three years. The magazine did not use a volume or issue numbers after May of 1987.

Transfers to Archives from Dr. Kathy Mangan, magazine advisor.
Accruals and Additions
Contrast magazines are transferred to Archives at the end of the spring semester each year after the magazine is published. Transfers of the magazine may occur at the end of the fall semester if one was published.
