Scope and Contents
This collection contains records produced by the Alumni Association/Alumni Council for the years 1879-2020. It is divided into five series. The first series covers records related to the governance of the Alumni Association, including constitutions, charters, by-laws, and directories for the organization. Series two contains meeting minutes and reports for the Association and various subcommittees. The third series includes correspondence produced and received by the Alumni Association. Series four covers Alumni Association events, mainly the Mid-Winter Banquet popular during the first half of the twentieth century. The last series contains the records of Alumni Association chapters, arranged alphabetically by state.

Conditions Governing Access
College administrative records not from the Board of Trustees and Office of the President will be closed for a minimum of 30 years from the date of creation. All other records are unrestricted.

Biographical / Historical
The Alumni Association was founded in 1872 to foster ties between college alumni and support the continuation of the school. Its first officers included three members of the class of 1871: William P. Wright, President, Mary M. Ward, Secretary, and Anna R. Yingling, Treasurer. In its early years, the Alumni Association held a reunion and banquet annually during commencement week.
From its inception, the Association was a key participant in fundraising for the college’s expansion. It is also responsible for producing the first alumni magazine on campus, The Alumni Bulletin, in 1914.
The Association continues to be an active presence at McDaniel College today. For more information about the Association’s current activities, please visit the Alumni Council website.
